renovations? Would you like to participate in a democratic business structure as a co-op
member?

SCBC is an employee-owned worker co-op offering training, career development, benefits, pension, and competitive wages ($39.87/hr for Journeyperson). After completing a probationary period and successful review processes, employees are eligible to become members in the co-op.
Becoming a member allows you to participate in the management and governance of the co-op, and entitles you to a share in equity dividends as a part-owner.

SCBC promotes justice, equity, diversity, decolonization, and inclusion (JEDDI) and has a diverse hiring policy. We seek to be representative of the demographics in the communities we work in and provide a supportive environment for anyone interested in joining our team. We value a highly collaborative culture and use an Integrated Project Delivery method of project management that brings all stakeholders to the table and fosters mutual help, respect, and development.
Our business is high performance new builds and renovations in both residential and small commercial buildings using Passive House methods and principles. We use advanced framing methods and a Larson truss wall system to prefabricate and install high performance building components. We use the Passive House Planning Package and DesignPH for energy modelling to design and build some of Manitoba’s most energy efficient and resilient buildings with ultra-low carbon footprints. Our mission is to curb climate change by constructing highly efficient buildings that have a net neutral or even negative lifetime carbon footprint.
Successful applicants must be able to get to job sites within the city. We also work in surrounding communities so the ability to work out of town is an asset, as well as a class 5 drivers license.
Cover letter should outline your experience in carpentry and interest in working in a co-op with an environmental sustainability focus.
